Hemp resin: what it is, how it differs from CBD oil, and what it costs per mg
Hemp resin (also sold as CBD resin or CBD paste) is the thick, dark form of hemp extract. Where CBD oil is extract dissolved in a carrier oil and sold in a dropper bottle, resin is the extract itself with very little carrier, sold in a dosing syringe. Same plant, same cannabinoids, different concentration and handling. This guide covers what resin is, how it compares to CBD oil, how to dose it, and what you actually pay per milligram of CBD.
What hemp resin is
Resin is a full-spectrum extract from industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa L., THC below the legal limit) with a small amount of hemp seed oil and beeswax to make it workable. It is dark brown to black, dense, and has a strong, bitter, plant-like taste. Because almost nothing is diluting it, concentrations are high: our resins contain 30 % or 50 % CBD, i.e. 1,500 mg or 2,500 mg CBD in a 5 ml syringe.
Full spectrum means the extract keeps the other cannabinoids (CBG, CBC, trace THC) and terpenes from the plant. An isolate-based paste would be pure CBD in a carrier, usually lighter in colour and without the hemp taste. Both exist on the market; the label and the lab report must say which one you are buying.

Price per milligram – the only fair comparison
Comparing pack prices is misleading: a 5 ml syringe with 30 % CBD and one with 50 % CBD contain very different amounts of CBD. Our prices on 31 October 2026, converted to 100 mg CBD:

How to dose resin
Our 5 ml syringes are marked in 0.1 ml steps. With 50 % resin, 0.1 ml is about 50 mg CBD; with 30 % resin, about 30 mg. A rice-grain-sized amount of 50 % resin is roughly 25 mg. Resin firms up in the fridge and softens at room temperature; let it warm for a few minutes before pressing the plunger. Usage instructions are in the Usage tab on each product page.
How long a syringe lasts depends only on your daily amount: 2,500 mg at 25 mg a day is 100 days; 1,500 mg at 25 mg a day is 60 days.
What to check before buying resin anywhere
- Lab report (COA) for the exact batch, available before purchase, showing CBD in mg and THC. Ours are in the Certificates tab on every product; every batch is tested by Institut für Hanfanalytik in Vienna by HPLC according to the European Pharmacopoeia. See how to read a COA.
- Milligrams per pack, not just the percentage. 30 % in 5 ml is 1,500 mg; 30 % in 3 ml is 900 mg.
- Full spectrum or isolate, clearly labelled.
- THC below the legal limit on the COA. Our batch 0826 measures ≤ 0.08 % THC.

Is hemp resin the same as CBD paste?
Yes, the terms are used interchangeably for a thick, high-concentration hemp extract in a syringe.
Is hemp resin stronger than CBD oil?
It has a higher concentration (up to 50 % vs 20 %), so more CBD per millilitre. How much CBD you take is set by the amount you use, not the form.
How should I store it?
Cool, dark, tightly capped. Use-by date is printed on the pack (batch 0826: 12/2027).
